De bijen verzamelen voor de aanmaak van propolis bijna uitsluitend de harsen van de knoppen van populier en els omdat ze rijk zijn aan flavonoïden. Deze propolis heeft voor de bijen ondermeer een hygiënische functie door de aanmaak van een beschermingslaag tegen de aanvallen van microben of schimmels. Terwijl de populier in de oudheid beschouwd werd als een schild, is de els een robuuste boomsoort die bestand is tegen verrotting.

Not eczema skin friendly

Since I didn’t remember which sunblock spray I had previously purchased (that was super awesome), I got this one with a few other ‘kid’ sunblock spray and stick. I had grabbed this one for a splash pad birthday party this weekend only to find out it’s messy and not eczema skin friendly. Either we got a defective bottle or it’s just the way it sprays: runny goops of sunscreen that takes awhile to dry properly (see photo). And when it dries it really does stick onto your skin as advertised (aka not breathable, pore clogging, will irritate sensitive/eczema prone skin). My youngest has eczema prone skin (that’s been flare up free for 3 years) had a severe break out on her arms after using this. And even for the sake of photo demonstration for this post my own sensitive skin got red/irritated. So does it stick-yup. Is it messy? Definitely. Easy to apply? No (your kiddos have to stay put until it dries). Did it provide sun protection? Maybe…? Sensitive skin friendly? No. Eczema skin approved? Definitely not. Recommended? Nope. We threw it away and requested a refund.
