In the second and fourth lectures Planck shows how the new ideas of statistical mechanics transformed the understanding of chemical physics. The seventh lecture discusses the principle of least action, while the final one gives an account of the theory of special relativity, of which Planck had been an early champion.
These lectures are especially important since they reflect Planck's reconsiderations and rethinking of his original discovery of quantum theory. A new Introduction by Peter Pesic places this book in historical perspective among Planck's works and those of his contemporaries. Just linear
Format: Paperback
I appreciate that it helps to organize the chaos of information, but I just used the template verbatim with my manager and it did not go very well. He said this linear approach does not work anymore with high-level corporate audiences. They want to cut right to the chase and start to dig into the deep details. This layout with simple images, even if you just pull away the map and anchor slides, makes the storytelling too much like a story, not giving enough credit to the speed at which certain audiences can and do process data on a slide. It was an interesting exercise and I still think this linear layout works in some cases. Just not if you are trying to communicate business case or other C-suite type of information.

Student Review
This book is an excellent introduction to the basic principles of insurance. We used this text as a supplement in our Intro to Act. Sci. class. It is very readable, easy to understand. Minimal mathematics required, some basic calculus concepts used, but only briefly. Don't let it's small size fool ya, it has plenty of information in there.

Rick Howard's latest book is the ultimate reference for cybersecurity practitioners, making it an essential read for anyone in the field. With his straightforward and refreshingly irreverent writing style, coupled with his profound technical knowledge, Rick has created a narrative that is easy to understand and grasp. He delves into the foundational aspect of cybersecurity, which he refers to as the cybersecurity first principle, which he then it to specific high-impact strategies.
The book has eight well-written chapters providing a comprehensive overview of those strategies. Importantly, Rick then offers an up-to-date and thorough exploration of the complementary capabilities (tactical-level tools) that can be utilized to "reduce the probability of material impact due to a cyber event" - the cyber first principle.
In the concluding chapter, Rick succinctly summarizes his contribution to the field, stating, "And that's it.
